I suspect it's not the quality you need, but I have been very happy with my
Scanmaker X6 which can do a very reasonable job with the extra transparency
adapter (lid). I do not have any scanned slides handy, but here are some VM
pics I have recently worked on:

They are fairly heavily compressed for Sell-3D and then possible eBay use,
but I was happy with the results... What do you think?
