At first, I was sure that this was the 10th anniversary of the first
transmission of garlic from the New World to Great Britain by underwater
pneumatic tube, and was a giant celebration staged by the London Garlic
Pounders Guild -- but a brief bit of research into the dictionary and
Encyclopaedia Britannica has revealed that, alas, I was wrong (Hey, it's
only a few days to April 1, and I couldn't wait! :>) ).

Actually, this was the the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Queen
Victoria' crowning as Queen in 1837. She had had a 50th Anniversary
Jubilee in 1887 as well. Our British friends could probably fill you in
on the whole mess.

Hope this helps.

Cordially,
Oliver Dean
