[photo-3d] Print Pairs

I have good incentive to shoot print pairs with my X4 ( never ran print
film through this camera) since I will be able to get prints for next to
nothing ($) very soon. I have a Viewmagic and like the idea of full
frame pairs ( exclude some trimming). Am I better served to find a
quality Holmes style viewer and trim the prints down, or could I
supercharge the Viewmagic by adding illumination and some magnification?
I know this has been discussed before but I'd like to hear from folks
that have modified the #1000? ( base model) Viewmagic. I am also
considering building a black box type of devise with the Viewmagic
attached. Large print pair cards would be inserted and illuminated.
Anyone build such a devise for a Viewmagic?
