The XR-X3PF was not actually a replacement for the
XR-10M (KR-10M). These models were contemporaries, with the XR-X3PF offering
additional features including full exposure automation and built in flash.
The two models however DO NOT work in the same manner when connected
together. Plug any two XR-10M's together and one camera will fire the other.
This will not work with a pair of XR-X3PF bodies, even though the same
subminiature remote release jacks are used. A separate push button switch
must be wired into the cable to fire the cameras together. The internal
circuitry of the cameras is just different.
The XR-10M was later replaced by the short lived XR-X3000 which is not
compatible with the XR-10M for simple stereo hookup.
I've used different combinations of my four XR-10M bodies together and sync
has always been fine with any two of them. One of them is actually a KR-10M,
which is the same.
