My X3 is equiped with 28-70mm zoom lenses. Does the "built-in" 
window change at different zooms?

To make it even more difficult, what happens when I attach the 
macro unit? Different at 6mm and 11mm stereo bases?

I have not measured a full frame RBT, but I would guess that 
there isn't a built in window as the optical path from lens to 
film gate on each side has not been modified from the original 
camera. It would be no different than side by side cameras. Of 
course I have been dead wrong before *{;-)
