Linda,

   Off center tripod socket twinning turns out to be pretty easy.  I would
think easier than centered, since it gives you room to work with.

1.  Put the cameras bottom to bottom, with the lenses adjacent.  Measure the
offset of the tripod sockets -- the Tripod Socket Separation.

2.  Buy a 2 x 1/2  board;  buy two 1/4 - 20 x 1/4" ( i.e. tripod socket
fitting) round headed bolts

3.  Drill two 1/4 inch holes through the board, separated by the
tripod-socket-separation.

4.  Countersink each hole so the bold heads will fit below the height of the
board.  Countersink on hole on one side of the board, one hole on the other.

5.  Screw on the cameras.   Rotate the first out of the way to expose the
screw hole for the second.

6.  You're done.  I also screw a little scrap wood propeller on the back of
the board.  Rotate it parallel /c the board to put the cameras on;  rotate
it perpendicular and it acts as a camera alignment stop.

PS.  Takes 15 minutes to do.  You gotta carry a screw driver with you to
change film in the field.
