[photo-3d] Discovery Channel version of the Loreo

Someone asked in the past day or two about where to buy the Loreo-based 
Discovery Channel 3D camera kit.

Be sure to check the "The Nature Company" retail stores. Much of their 
merchandise is the exactly the same as the Discovery Channel Stores. (They 
must be owned by the same parent company.)

By coincidence, I found the Discovery Channel 3D camera kit at two Nature 
Company stores, one in Santa Clara or San Jose (not sure which city) and one 
in San Mateo (all in California). At the San Jose/Santa Clara store, these 
cameras were $45, and they had 3 left. The San Mateo store had a half dozen 
or more, but I didn't notice the price.

The Discovery Channel introduced their version of the camera last Fall for 
the holiday shopping season. Well before Xmas, many of the retail stores had 
sold out and they had dozens in each store. The Discovery Channel's online 
Web store sold out in early January, and these cameras were back-ordered for 
a few months. I don't think these cameras were slow-sellers by any measure, 
but about a month or two ago when the Discovery Channel listed the camera 
again they showed a $69 price. Then, just recently, they dropped the camera 
from their offerings.

One crucial requirement of using Loreo-based cameras is the septum or 
lenshade. Of all of the variations on the Loreo camera, the Discovery 
Channel camera was the best simply because it has a twist-on septum. Early 
Loreos had no septum, and the Argus had a cruddy septum with suction cups 
that never held for very long.
