This was discussed awhile ago with regard to the base required
to get a stereo image. I forget the outcome, but if you assume
the aurora occurs at an altitude of 30 - 50 miles then it would
require *miles* of stereo base. The major problem was how to
synchronize the cameras, and make sure they were pointing towards
the same area of sky (or at least the same area of aurora).
The first shøckwave reached earth about 9 hours ago (I'm typing
this at noon, Mountain), and showed a dramatic jump in proton
energies. We shall see what happens tonight.
Note that the photo-3d archives prior to egroups are still
searchable at:
http://www.calcite.rocky.edu/photo-3d/
maybe with keyword(s) of aurora and exposure?
