The third workshop will be titled: "Getting started in
stereo with a manual stereo camera"

The purpose of this workshop would be to encourage those
beginners who would like to get started in stereo photography
but are intimidated by the older stereo cameras.

It is a fact that a 1950s Stereo Realist (or Kodak, or Revere
or TDC, etc.) for $100-$150 offers a great value for the money.
Sharp stereo pictures with a system that was designed for
stereo photography. That is... after you overcome the fear
of using a 1950s camera without any of the modern automations
and convenience that many of us take for granted.

I will explain the basic manual controls (aperture, shutter
speed, focus) what purpose they serve and how can they be
adjusted for well-exposed & sharp stereo pictures. I will
spell out how to set every control for a number of situations
(outdoors with full sun, indoors, etc), plus touch on
close-ups, use of flash, etc.

A variety of stereo cameras will be on display (and I can
use a little help with this since I only have Realists around :))

Something new this year: I will project a dozen or so slides
with common problems like bad exposure, wrong focus, camera
shake, tilted image, light leak, etc., and use these as the
basis for a discussion on what went wrong.

Overall, I think this will be a good workshop for a beginner
who is thinking about or just now getting started with a 1950s
stereo camera.

See ya in Mesa!!! I will be arriving (with my family this
year... another first) on July 6th.
