I am just trying to save you time.... After the Realist comes
an RBT stereo camera if you are serious about 3d.
My progression went as follows: Realist 3.5, Realist 2.8,
Ilex Realist, Ektar Realist, Belplasca, 7p Realist, RBT S1.
(with a couple of non-Realist cameras in-between that
might as well be forgotten.)
I do not count single or twin cameras as a substitute for
the Realist but as a supplement that gives you variable
stereo base and variable focal lengths. I always used
SLR cameras together with my stereo camera and I
will continue to do so.
After using the S1 there is no way back. And I am not
alone. Look around you. How many people ended up
buying an RBT camera after a long experimentation with
various other stereo cameras? Quite a few in this list.
I could have saved myself a lot of time and money had
I gone directly from the Realist 3.5 to the RBT S1 and
skipping all the cameras in-between.
About costs: I have spent on computer equipment
three times that amount of money I spent for the S1.
If I sum up the resale value of all the computer equipment
that I have today, they don't ad up to $500. But if I
decide to sell my S1 today, I'll get more than what I paid
for it, two years ago.
Painting the house 2 years ago cost me as much as the
S1. Paint is flaking already. Buying a car 10 years
ago cost me 5-6 times the price of an S1. Today the
S1 is worth 5-6 times the price of the car (I only lock
the doors when I have the S1 inside).
Some will say, you need the car, you need the computer,
you need to paint your house. Nonsense! All you really
need is breath air and eat food. Taking stereo pictures
is a close second.
I know you have been wondering about this for a long time
Peter. I remember when you got your 2.8, how happy
you were. I am sure you tried a lot of other systems since
then but nothing seems to work well. Why not make the
leap now and be happy for the rest of your life? :)
