I take my RBT X3A caving! I don't think you can get a more harsh 
environment than that. It is every bit as rugged as the 35mm camera it 
is based upon. The only weak point is the lens linkage, but it is more 
prone to getting caught on clothing and that can happen anywhere except 
the hot spings where you are shooting nekid *{;-)

I do have a padded, waterproof case that I carry it in for those times 
it need it (such as caving and backpacking). Otherwise I carry it in a 
normal camera backpack or just wear it around my neck if I am doing a 
lot of shooting in an area.
