To paraphrase " why would anyone take pictures of things that were there
50 years ago, and will still be there 50 years from now?" 
Very simple...many things will NOT be there! And who's to say? Here's an
example: In Pittsburgh, WQED television has filmed an entire series
called " Things That Aren't There Anymore" This series is exclusive to
only the Pittsburgh area! We have lost bridges, buildings, railways,
tunnels, historical buildings, car hops, drive-in theatres, parks,
professional sports teams, the whole landscape has changed! Currently we
are tearing down 3 Rivers Stadium, building 2 new stadiums, a new city
park, new modern sculpturesque type buildings are springing up. A
historical sight shares the same block with a Cultural " new age"
park......the face of our town is forever changing! This exchange is
about hometowm pride and best kept secrets! I'm excited about the images
from this exchange!! Those who participate will be very glad they are
collecting these kinds of slides!
