My tests gave me sharp focus at 4 feet on the closest setting.
I've never tested the intermediate setting as such, but usually
assume it to be 6 feet. Depth of field is good in this range,
so it's never been a problem. For distant objects I go to the
farthest setting, which I believe is infinity--worked out fine
for me. Often I set between this and the middle setting if it
seems advisable for subject distance. This does work fine as
the focusing is actually continuous with click stops. Be aware
that every time you close the clamshell the focus will go back
to the intermediate setting.
