[photo-3d] Re: Communication (was what's happening to the NSA?)

In the ongoing trade show controversy, Dan writes, in part:

<< To me this is a "black & white" issue. I suppose you can try to create a
gray area if you like, but I don't agree that there is one. Rules are rules.
>>

I think (note that this means the following is entirely personal opinion)
that these grey areas are created by a lack of clear communication. In the
section that George previously quoted (*), although the part about "first
come, first served" is perfectly clear, I do not read anything about a
deadline, other than "as soon as possible", which isn't a deadline. I admit
to not having seen the entire, original form. Perhaps George inadvertantly
left out a relevant phrase or two, because Dan continues:

<Pre-registration payment in all cases was due on or before the 16th - per
the forms.>

And then goes on:

The answer to Dan's question is a qualified yes. It is repetitive & wearying
to cover the same information with the same people over and over again, but
that is the only way to be sure that the information is communicated, equally
& effectively, to all. That is why Bob must periodicly repost the
subscription and removal information to this very list.

Dan closes with:
< I STRONGLY suspect there will be more rules in the future for just that
reason. SIGH... =( >

I sincerely hope that there are no MORE (ie. additional) rules, just a more
effective way of communicating them.

*George's quote (in case it was missed earlier):

<We’re expecting a large trade show at NSA Y2K, so we urge you to
complete and return this application with your payment as soon as
possible to be assured of getting your table(s), which will be
assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Special requests for
table locations (e.g., if you wish to be located next to another
individual or group) should be noted in the "Special Requests"
section below and submitted as soon as possible. Locations with
electric outlets are limited. We’ll do our best to accommodate all
table holders and their special requests, but we cannot guarantee
any special table location.>
