[photo-3d] warped Franka beamsplitter housing

Hi!
I got the front-surface mirrors into the Franka beamsplitter
last night but was dismayed that there was a severe height
difference between the left and right images. I swapped the
left and right outer mirrors with no effect on the height
difference. I also turned the "opaque prism" (the inner
mirrors are fastened to this) upside down, thus swapping
the inner mirrors from side to side. This also had no effect.
So I concluded that I had mounted the mirrors accurately
enough (the outer mirrors mount to "wings" which are adjustable
to provide toe-in for closeups, and the inner mirrors mount
to an "opaque prism" which can also be removed from the
housing). Careful examination of the housing showed that it
is crooked--warped. The mounting holes are accurately placed,
but that is no good if the housing itself is warped.
I am looking for thoughts about straightening it. I could
remove the mirrors and then try to twist it straight, either
with or without heat. I could also try slotting the mounting
holes for the mirror "wings" so as to reposition them.
I'm probably going to go ahead and cut away the sides for
toeing out the mirrors since this would make straightening
it easier.
Thanks!
Mark Shields
