I have a Belplasca and really like it. I have had no
mechanical problems with it other a minor problem with the door
latch, which I was able to fix myself. I have not tried a
Verascope F40 - but understand they suffer from lens flair
and/or internal reflections, which can be somewhat lessened
       by painting the inside black.

       I have used several 3.5 Realists - and a 2.8 with "German
Lenses" - All of them produced sharp pictures - The Belplasca
lenses are very sharp, every bit as good as an RBT S1 to my eye
at least when they are stopped down to F8 or F11.

Other good points for a Belplasca:

        - 7P format

       - Produces very near ortho results because of :

           - 62mm lens separation - more closely matching typical eye
spacing than a Realist or even an RBT S1. -

           - 37.5 lens focal length - more closely matching a Red Button
           Viewer than a Realist.

The major disadvantage of this camera is that it does not
have a range finder. Dr. T, why did you acquire and get rid
        of 3 Belplascas?
