That is what we call the individual piece of film that the 
image is on. Each stereo image consists of two film chips. 
Most "Realist" format cameras produce "chips" that are 5 
sprocket holes (or perforation) wide - hence 5p. European 
format is 7 sprocket holes wide or 7p. Full frame 35mm is 8 
sprocket holes wide or 8p.

Hope that helps (there is a lot more "jargon" to learn as 
well).
