Hi All,

I have never been happy enough with all the different
viewers I have tried. Most were fine, but none were
really amazing.

So, I have desided to make my own viewer. I have all
of the parts except the lenses. Has anyone on this
list done extensive research into what lenses to use,
and where to get them. I was thinking about buying a
pair of loupes from B+H, but I wouldn't want to buy
them without trying them first.

Mainly, I need LARGE lenses that easilly cover an
entire 8P slide (each). I want to make the viewer so
that it can take 2X2 slide pairs as well as the
classic realist mounted type. I have tried many
loupes that were sharp, but had what I call "sweet
spots" where if you wanted the slide to look sharp you
had to position your eyes just right. Obviously I
want to find lenses that look great without that much
effort. Also NO pincushioning. I am sure that some
Ziess loupes must fit all of my needs, but I don't
want to spend $300 each. I am thinking that the most
I could even think about spending would be $150 for
the pair. I just want to use the best lenses I can
afford so that, hopefully I won't need to change the
lenses later.

I don't know enough about lenses to just pic out some
from the E.S. catalog, and I don't even know if they
are the best place to get lenses.
