I also used to think that holograms were the best quality 3D images
available to the naked eye, but since I had a look at some lenticular prints
made with a 12 lens "Burdlo" I'm not so certain. This is a camera David
Burder creates by joining together three Nimslo bodies. The window for each
of the 12 lenses has been adjusted, which allows significantly more of the
half-frame to be used. I've had quite a few lenticular prints made with my
four lens Nimslo, and the difference the extra 8 images make is astonishing.
(Also worth noting, the quality of the printing and lenticular material in
the prints I saw was first rate.) There's a lot more apparent depth,
comparable to a Realist slide IMO. I think this is due to each eye seeing
images that are more separated. The prints are viewable from a wider range
of angles, and the apparent roundness of the images is also remarkable. If
lenticular printing of this quality could ever be made available to the mass
market, I'm sure that most consumers wouldn't care, the product would flop
and us crazies could get more cool cameras at close-out prices. In the
meantime, anyone know where I can get a good deal on a table saw? Jim Harp
