Hi,
I use FED-BOY Stereo camera since more than 2 years and I'm very
satisfied! It is my main stereo camera now.
It has quite good optics and auto-exposure system is accurate
though very simple. Virtually all pairs are exposed very well (I
use Fuji Sensia II slide film). My main problem (but still not
so big) with FED is forgotting to set the distance dial, but
this relates to all manual cameras. Another one was tearing the
film off while rewinding during heavy frost (once).
My camera uses VINNIC L1154 alkaline cell (measured now it has
1.37V, so it must be 1.5V nominal) 6.6mm tall by 11.5mm diameter
(in the battery hole there is a plastic insert of this diameter,
preventing from battery movements. The insert can be easily
removed).
I have also new (1999) FED-Stereo with russian letters. It came
with PX625A alkaline cell (1.5V) which is a bit bigger and has 2
parts of different diameter (6mm tall, 13 and 15.5 mm
diameteres).
I think all alkaline cells (1.5V) which fit the battery
compartment can be used.
New battery lasts for several months. Its life could be
prolonged by setting the film speed dial below lowest value when
not using the camera. In this case camera does not allow to take
a picture what can be very frustrating if you forgot to reset
this, but saves you one pair.
