[photo-3d] Re: in a hurry photography (caution: contains strong opinion)

It seems the "in a hurry" and "Kodachrome" threads got mixed,
but that's O.K. because I use Kodachrome 200 because I'm often
(and have to be) in a hurry, which means keeping the shutter
speeds up and (even more in stereo) depth of field deep. I wish
the grain were finer, but I still like its sharpness--I just don't
like the grain structure (actually dye cloud structure) of any E6
film I've tried. (I have heard about Provia 100F and it's a film I
want to try.) I do also use Kodachrome 64 when I'm shooting
subjects, mostly scenery, that don't move and don't run away! And I
have a roll of Kodachrome 25 to try again after many years. But
Kodachrome 200 remains my favorite. Even if I liked Provia 100F,
it would be only half the speed. I have tried Elite Chrome 200,
and I'd have to say it's a good film as such, but I don't like
the color as well as K200, it isn't as contrasty as I would like,
and it just doesn't have the sharpness of the Kodachrome.
As for shooting Kodachrome until the end of time, I think until
they stop making it will be it, which I hope is never. I've said
this on the Kodachrome list, and I'll say it here--I think if
Kodak ever throws in the towel, someone else could buy the rights
and start making it. Similar films have been made elsewhere--it
isn't black magic. And one or two labs, like A&I or BWC, could
keep processing it--with modern air freight it could be a world-
wide thing.
Kodachrome and stereo--the perfect combination!
