Ummm, I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but why not
just overlap the prints? Granted it won't be as clear as transparencies.
When you superimpose two prints you can make out common
points pretty easily. I do this all the time when I make stereo cards.
I overlap the left and right images, and illuminate them by the back with
a very bright light source. I can then determine where the closest
points are in both images and overlap the images accordingly. Cropping
is then automatic. Of course this has nothing to do with the above
thread but just illustrates overlapping prints can be done almost as
effectively as transparencies.
