[photo-3d] Stereo Dinner next week in Manhattan
- From: Tom Deering <photo-3d@xxxxxxxxxxx>

I don't know what the other folks will bring, but I'm bringing some
full color stereoscopic video and animations. Moving 3D! The
Stereo Dinner in Manhattan doesn't usually get this fancy, but I
haven't been able to attend my own dinner since the NSA convention in
Phoenix. I've got some stories to tell, and some cool things to
show. Why not join us next Friday, Sept 15?
To sweeten the pot, I will give away a boxed copy of Strata3D, with
the printed manuals, still in the shrinkwrap. I'll show some
animations that will give you an idea of what's possible with it. I
wanted to give it as a door prize in Phoenix, but I was foiled. I'll
wait till Friday to tell the tale.
We are fortunate to have a core of really great regulars. Jim Harp
shoots several formats, and travels internationally. He usually
brings some nice slides and prints. Brian Reynolds is an encyclopedic
stereoscopic genius, with related interests in large format
photography, astrophotography and lots of other cool things. Brian
will just amaze you with the things he says. John Billingham is an
experimental guy, recently making his own barrier prints and
home-made lenticulars. A bona fide camera hacker.
Now add a random assortment of stereo fans. From around the USA,
plus China, Poland, England and Brooklyn so far. People who are just
starting up, and people who have done it for years. Good people who
are fun to know. I never know who will show up. That's part of the
fun.
And maybe you'll join us? It's the people that make this evening
special. Sure, I enjoy looking at the slides that people bring, but
it's the conversations and camaraderie that make it such a pleasure.
And there's never a big crowd, so it's hard to get left out.
If this is your first time, people usually show up between 6:30 and
7:30 ,although you can come and go any time. We have no set agenda,
we just share some favorite slides and shoot the breeze. And we
squeeze in a good meal somehow. Bring your stereo pictures or
slides, or look at ours. There is no membership, and first-timers
are always cordially welcome.
We do it again in one week: Friday, Sept 15, at La Cocina: 217 West
85th Street, just off Broadway in Manhattan. It's a guaranteed good
time.
Cheers,
Tom Deering
