This is impressive but also mysterious.
If the images are going on DV, and ultimately into digital distribution
like DVD, why design the lens for interlaced stereo? Since DVD stores
progressive frames, why not design a lens to capture progressive scan
stereo pairs? The 3d quality would be much better, and the source could be
processed more easily to be output in a variety of stereo formats.
I'm totally ignorant on the technical issues and would like to learn more.

PS. developing this lens must have cost a fortune. Is the market big
enough!? Who would buy such a lens? My guess is it must at least 20KUSD.
Is this a sign that 3d has arrived at a commercial broadcast juncture?
