[photo-3d] progressive framed stereo

High end digital video cameras (eg: sony 3 chip ccd ~=$2K) can shoot
progressive video. Many digitals cameras will shoot in "burst" mode
(eg; Kodak DC 290 ~=$800+) to produce a panorama. Either camera can
shoot 640x480 frames moving at about 10mph to produce a string of
right/left pairs. It is also possible to shoot a stereo panorama.
Digital splicing of the left hand side of all of the images is used to
produce the right hand panorama. The right side makes the left pan.
This would be true if you are holding the camera say, 10" in front of
the point of rotation.
Or it may be better to hold the camera behind the point of rotation to
allow a bit of "toe in" over walleye on close subjects.
I have tried sort of thing with film but only done segments of an arc.
Boy, it takes alot of film and scanning to do this job right. Maybe I
will finish those someday. After I mount the five rolls of the car
show, a few rolls of Yosemite, and complete my next CDs. It is easier to
shoot a bit hyper with long lenses (for low distortion) and display only
a fraction of the image at a time.
Perhaps one could make a twin circuit camera using USB scanner heads and
twinned laptops......
