A small group of us are going to see "House of Wax" next Friday at
the Film Forum. If you would like to join us, email me. I will get
advance tickets and make reservations for a bite afterward.

Sept 22 through Sept 28, the Film Forum of New York City will show a
NEW 35mm print of "House of Wax", starring Vincent Price.

Although an inferior single projector print was made in the 80's,
this is the first new double projector print made of "House of Wax"
since the film's release 47 years ago! The sound has been
re-mastered, too.

Billed as "the first feature produced by a major studio in 3D", I
think it would be fair to say that "House of Wax" is one of the most
popular 3D movies of all time. It scared the heck out of me as a kid
in 2D.

Interesting tidbits: This role launched Vincent Price as a horror
star. (He played non-horror roles for 15 years before "House of
Wax".) The director, Andre de Toth, had only one eye and could not
see the stereo effect. Charles Buchinsky, the mute henchman,
later changed his name to Charles Bronson. And one waxed victim,
Carolyn Jones, would go on to become Morticia Addams ten years later.

Bugs Bunny's only 3D cartoon, "Lumber Jack-Rabbit", is the short.
The phone number for the Film Forum is 212-727-8110

If you would like to join us to see the movie on Friday, Sept 22, write to me.
