If the Realist is such a great camera some entrepreneur would have picked up on it and be producing them today., Certainly the patents have run out.

The fact is that value is measured by real demand. When real demand vanishes all that is left is the collectors value and at  that stage prices are being propped up. Frankly I would rather navigate with a compass than a sun dial?
