I have some "Anti Stat Film Cleaner" by Edwal that I purchased at my
local camera store (National Camera Exchange, 4 oz for $7.99). It is
mostly or entirely isopropyl alcohol, but in a much higher concentration
than in household rubbing alcohol (90% I think, vs 70% in rubbing
alcohol). I don't know if it would work on "black goo" or not, but it is
less toxic than some other film cleaners that have been widely used in
the past and would be worth a try. "Safely cleans and lubricates color
and B&W film. Makes them static free and dust resistant. Safe for use
with acetate and polyester film bases. Test all other plastic objects
prior to use. Use in a well ventilated room" etc. -Linda
