FYI : I am not George Maxey. As for the other, I never once mentioned
Stereoscopic images, I was talking about Computer Generated Images Vs.
Photographically produced images, and Boris's comment about ignoring the
rules about the type of images that are allowed.
I know there are not that many venues for Stereo Anything. Perhaps I
should be more careful in the future and be far more explicit. I thought
I was, when I advised people to look in any of the dozen or more computer
graphics magazines at the magazine store. Do you really think I meant
Stereo Specific Competitions?
Here are a few I found - and I would bet that since it is digital, you
could submit one half of a pair and they would accept it. In fact, it
might add interest to the competition if these singles were entered.
Certainly, it expands your list of places to enter your images.
3dcafe.com runs one, Corel runs one, HOW Magazine runs one, the Art
Directors Club runs one, Adobe Magazine occasionally runs one or 2,
Autocad Magazine occasionally runs one, Communication Arts Magazine runs
one, The Annual Fidonet and Web GrsFX Monthly Competitions, The Internet
Ray Tracing Competition - I found these with little problem. Most related
associations have a few contests each year, and there are more than 1000
of those worldwide.
Then there lots of art competions open to all artists and all media
including computer art - I found more than a dozen just doing one simple
Internet search. There are State Fairs with competitions, there are
National Associations - all have competitions of some forme or another.
There are various contensts sponsered by the publishers of graphics
software - Corel, for example, has a big one. Graphis Magazine has had
great ones in the past.
Contests abound in other countries as well. I would bet that there are,
worldwide, more contests and competitions for the computer graphics
artist than you or anyone would be able to enter. All you have to do is a
little research. I found the above without much effort.
>>>And needless to say, submitting a stereocopic image to a non-stereo
competition is possible,
>>>but pointless. You might as well send an 8-track tape.
I disagree. Single sides of the Stereo Image can be entered. Doing this
is not pointless; on the contrary, it opens up more opportunities.
>>It all seems odd to me. Can you imagine if the Academy Awards were
only open to footage

generated films are still films,
>>nonetheless
Yes it would.
