We regularly use alcohol in the lab as a surface sterilizer, you 
should be able to get 91% alcohol at the local drug store for less 
than $2. You might have to go to a couple of stores, I can always 
find it at an Eckerds or Walgreens no problem. Just for my own 
info, alcohol doesn't soften the slide film or run the colors?
