Are your slides in glass? If so this is a very common problem 
with moisture that is trapped between the film emulsion and 
the glass cover getting heated and evaporated. That is why it 
takes time to be seen and finally goes away. This also means 
that the projector may be heating your slides too much. You 
should check to see if the heat absorbing glass is performing 
as it should be.
