In the mean time you have found the Taylor-Merchant site 
http://www.stereopticon.com/ and the reference to the 
Stereopticon 707.

However, the Stereopticon 707 is no longer a _cardboard_ 
viewer. It is now made from a too floppy kind of plastic.

So you might consider Stuart Stiles' cardboard book viewer
http://www.pioneeris.net/sstiles/  (I don't have seen it).
