[photo-3d] Stereo Demise

I'm not so sure stereo faded because of difficulty mounting and viewing
images, although this sounds like a plausable explanation in later
years. I seem to recall reading about the successful stereo
era.....stereo enjoyed much success because traveling photographers and
salesmen were selling images of foreign lands and foreign people. The
world was huge back then, travel was only for the rich, and mysteries of
distant lands intrigued everyone. Movies and TV are responsible for
making the world a smaller place, exposing the mystery, and causing a
decline in stereoview sales. It wasn't until later that many hobbiests
tried to make and mount their own images....by then stereo was already
starting to decline. The added difficulty and do-it-yourself frustration
was the final nail IMO.
I cannot remember the source of this info but this was the general
theory I recall reading about. Mark
