My first stereo camera was a Colorist. Excellent lenses, light weight, I
used mine for over 10 years and it still takes excellent images. The advance
is a weak point, (mine was also broke when I got it) but can be fixed. Price
range is $100-125 with case on ebay while a CLA will run you $65 plus
shipping. Yours sounds like it has multiple problems, which may not be worth
fixing unless the camera is in mint shape on the outside.
If you plan to fix it,  I would recommend Jess Powell to do the overhaul if
you choose to do so. You can get his address from the archives or post a
request on the list.
