[photo-3d] SI Olympics 2000 in 3D and 2D to 3D film

The magazine is a special issue- the cover says to display until November
10th (released October 18).
The distribution is certainly sporadic- my local newstand didn't have it,
but I found it in several grocery stores. 4 million issues are out there!

The SI team was by now much more familiar with the format, and didn't need
much hand-holding.
I worked on three ads (2D to 3D conversion): Tundra, Monster.com and Pfizer.
The agency for Pfizer did some bad things to an ad that was not all that
friendly to the anaglyph process, unfortunately out of my control.

On the thread of 2D to 3D conversion for film: it's got to be a compromise
situation, with fair at best stereo effects (in my opinion). The main
problem I see (besides isolating every element and assigning their place in
volumetric space, which can change from frame to frame) is that the second
point of view can see "around" something, which means what ever is behind
that object MUST BE CREATED for the given parallax deviation. I can't
imagine a software doing this effieciently. It often take me days, maybe a
week, to do a single image.
