Very common problem, not only with the Chicago Tribune, but throughout the
journalistic media as well.
It is amazing how frequently young writers will perpetuate a common myth,
referring to 3-D movies of the 1950's as requiring audiences to wear "those
silly red and blue glasses". This myth was even stated by Roger Ebert (whom
I otherwise respect, and is old enough to know better).
