No.

Yes, that's important.  Obviously you don't want a viewer
that hurts your eyes or gives you a headache.  But most
viewers will allow you to see the stereo images without
eye strain.  As you become more experienced with stereo
viewing, you will start to appreciate subtle differences
and viewers/lenses which at first appeared "slightly better"
if any, they will be much better.
