[photo-3d] TDC Stereo Projector restoration and supercharging

Two pieces of info in Stereogram 5.3, of interest
to TDC projector owners:

Mark Dottle has restored his TDC 116 projector after
it was involved in a house fire. The result looks fantastic
(painted in two colors but maintaining the looks of the
1950s). It is better seen in color in the emailed version
of the newsletter. This projector also now has Compco
4" lenses. (The Compco 500 and Compco Triad
and TDC 116 and TDC 716 lenses are interchangeable.)

Also, I had a chance to examine a supercharged
TDC 116 projector which now belongs to the
Cleveland Museum of Natural History. As it turns
out, the previous owner (who donated it to the Museum)
had made a number of unusual modifications. Here is
a brief summary:

- Extra electrical outlet added in the back (the projector
now needs two electrical cords, one for each lamp)

- Two extra On/Off switches added (one for each
bulb plus one for the fan)

- Volt meter with on/off switch added to the side.

- Auxiliary electrical outlet added to the side (you can
plug a small light)

- Electrical circuit has been rewired and relays have
been added inside.

This projector now runs with 1000W bulbs instead of
500W. A number of other good touches have been
added. Clearly the result of a devoted stereo enthusiast
who wanted to create the best stereo projector available!

And while on the subject of stereo projectors, I
understand that Don Parks has been working some
interesting modifications in a TDC projector. Don,
do you want to talk about it?
