I usually don't describe things I'd like to do until I get them done, but since
George has asked me here goes.
So far I've just been collecting the parts I'll need and haven't actually modified
my TDC 116 projector. My first step will be to put some short focal length projection
lenses on it. George sold me some 60 mm lenses that I can probably adapt to thread into
the TDC lens housing. A more difficult alternative I've considered is to reconstruct a
TDC lens housing to hold Kodak style projector lenses. I already have 2 that are 50 mm
for my Ektagraphic projectors. George sold me a spare TDC lens housing so I'll be able
to preserve the perfectly good housing currently on my projector.
What am I trying to accomplish? I do not have a large enough room in my home to
fill my 70x70 screen with the 4 inch lenses that are on my TDC projector. I like to view
projected slides on a large screen up close. This is hard when I'm always the one behind
the projector. With short focal length lenses, I can be behind the projector and still
be close enough to have a good view of my slides. I get this done in a month or two.
Assuming the short lenses work well I have some more creative ideas that include
building a remote control unit to do the horizontal and vertical alignments and a system
for reading or remembering alignment settings of the slides and making those adjustments,
as required, before the slides hit the screen. I've made models for this that work on an
older Compco projector so I'm pretty confident I can adapt it to the better TDC 116
projector. I don't have a lot of time to work on these things so progress is slow. I'll
let you know how well these things seem to work when and if I get them done.
Thanks for the interest and the help getting parts, George.
