Doesn't sound impossible ... if you stuck to something like a
Realist or Realist45 or FED with a removable back, you could
mount the whole digital camera guts (CCD with electronics
attached) in a rectangular box with the CCD's protruding
through one side. Then attach the stereo camera to that
surface such that the CCD's are in the film gates.

If you built in suitable adjustment/shimming of the CCD height
you could set the focus initially and it ought to be possible
to allow for cameras that focus either by moving the film plane
or by lens adjustment.

Wouldn't be pretty though. (Then again, a Realist isn't pretty
either (:-) )
