Hi Steve,
I appreciate your right to make some money selling these
items and I'm glad that you are concerned about keeping
some of the items together for their historical value. My
concern is that these items represent a great opportunity
for people to learn about the life of Seton Rochwite and
the history of 3D photography.
I hope that you do provide copies to NSA.
It would be really cool if digital pictures were taken of the
entire collection and a website drawn up to feature
Seton and his Leonardo type experiments and conceptualization
of practiced 3D photography. In fact, if you took some time
to set something like this up, or sponsor it within the right hands,
you could advertise that
these items will be available for sale while you watch
people learn about Seton and see the value of the items
appreciate.
Let's face it, 3D photography, particular it's developmental
history is largely unknown by the public. These items
represent a great investment. Before they go 20 different
directions, I'd be great to see you or someone spend some
time sharing them and seeing their value appreciate more
before they get buried in some private collectors showcase
(ie closet).
Thanks for thinking this over,
Philip Steinman
Hi Philip, I read your note/posting and am curious as to what you think I
should do with the items that Seton Rochwite's family chose to sell at the
estate sale. I strongly agree with your suggestion of historic value. I have
paid for these items and wish to use them for comerce. The items of most
significance are the invention disclosures and original sketches. I have
already offered to provide copies of these items to the NSA's Holmes
Stereoscopic Research Library.
Any other thoughts? Steve
