The NSA is not the only place to go about getting a book published. There
are lots of other publishers capable of publishing a book about Seaton
Rochwite; not to mention museum presses, college and university presses
and the subsidy, private and self-publishing routes. You might have to
look hard for a publisher, but they are out there.
I have to ask this, but is the owner of the material interested in just
getting info out there, or does he want to dispose of the materials, or
if a book is of interest, is he interested in maximum dollars? The answer
will dictate the best approach to take. There are lots of ways to go.
Promotion is also another consideration. Will the book become a best
seller? Most likely not. Will stereo world publish a press release about
it - Certainly they will. They would have to, regardless of if they were
involved or not. There are also more than a hundred photo magazines
worldwide and most of them would most likely also publish a release.
Self-publishing: This is a great approach these days. It is easy to
produce SP Books and lots of folks are doing just that. I have done 8 so
far.
Book Packagers: Another route to consider. You can offer the material to
any of a hundred publishers of photographic books offering material for
inclusion in one of their books. Pay can be good and you can possibly
realize the profits you would make on eBay, but still retain the material
for disposal later.
This is just a few of the potential directions you could take.
