Good pinholes are precision openings and can be extremely costly. Little
changes affect the image quality. In the "Encyclopedia of Photography", a
large set of books, red covers, printed in the 1950's and most likely
available at your library, there is a big section on making smaller
apertures for lenses to be used for photographing model train layouts.

This was done for greatly increased depth of field - greater than
available using conventional lenses. I suggest you look for the set of
books and do a little research. There are lots of active pinhole
photographers out there on the Web. A few searches will turn up info from
practicing pinhole photographers.
