By what measure a failure? She took pictures, she looked at them, she
lost interest. I lost interest in many things as a child that I've
returned to as an adult. (I make the assumption she is a child.)

You're right, making guesses about what Mr. Rochwhite's interest would
be now is futile. In the interest of futility, might I suggest that he
seemed to be interested in that new technology, color slide film. The
modern equivalent might be digital....
