They tried to give the customers what they were asking for:
An INEXPENSIVE stereo camera that IS EASY TO USE and TAKES PICTURES 
THAT DON'T NEED A VIEWER OR GLASSES TO VIEW.

Trying to give the public what it asks for is almost always a failure 
because they really don't want it.  

The high cost of prints was also a factor.
