[photo-3d] Fifties 3D Cinemas
I've got a question for any 3D'ers with long memories.
The cinemas of the fifties where films like "House of Wax", "Kiss Me Kate",
"The Creature... " etc. were originally shown - was the projection method
polarised or anaglyphic?
Surely they used polarised method, not anaglyphic. ...but I've come accross
evidence to suggest that audience wore red/green glasses. (or red/blue)
I once saw a picture of the interior of a cinema, and the entire audience
were wearing red/green glasses. The picture was a black and white
photograph originally, and the lenses of all the glasses had been coloured
in. This must be wrong!
I've heard some people, (perhaps to young to remember accurately)
describing the coloured glasses they wore in the cinema, but I reckon they
were thinking of comics and magazines, not cinemas.
I realise it's not of earth-shattering importance, but I'd like to know
about this thing that's been puzzling me.
