[photo-3d] twinned Olympus XA's

Hi!
I just won the auction for my second XA. I received the twinning
bar from Paul Talbot last week.
I plan on a simple approach--just press both shutter releases
at the same time. I've heard that wiring up two XA's doesn't
work too well because there are uneven exposures between left
and right cameras (I use slide film), shifting from camera
to camera so that changing the film speed setting doesn't help.
I have also heard that this can be avoided by linking the wiring
at the shutter electromagnet level, but that this is much more
complicated and dangerous (ruin the camera if it isn't done right)
than the way XA2's are twinned.
I also have an XA2, but feel frustrated by its lack of a
rangefinder. In addition, it vignettes significantly
on outdoor pictures (higher shutter speeds, smaller lens openings);
I've been told this is a result of the particular design of the
combined shutter/diaphragm. Another XA advantage is the aperture-
priority automation, as compared to programmed in the XA2.
I know that action shots won't be a good thing to do with this
rig, but I don't shoot a lot of those anyway.
I'll post the results of how well it works.
