Hello Tony,

You bring up an interesting issue by relating the resolution
with the viewing conditions.

>My Zeiss lenses on my projector will only resolve 60 lpm - after all,
>they are projector lenses.

It is interesting that you mention projection lenses as
an example of a high-resolution system. Because in my
mind, projection is the least demanding viewing method
in terms of resolution. A number of problems: Distance
of viewer from screen is usually large, resulting in
a smaller image. Lenticular screen is not smooth but
has ribs. Two pairs of polarizing filters. Questionable
projector focusing.

I have slides which are definitely out of focus when
viewed in my Realist red button viewer, but appear
sharp under normal projection conditions. I was
thinking that if good projected slides was my main
goal, I should not be rejecting anything viewed in
a viewer.
