[photo-3d] Lightening of Lightning :-)

The challenges of using a twin rig, employing wide lens seperations
while tripping the shutters wth radio control etc. seems like an act of
futility to me. So many problems with sync, vertical misalignments,
guess work of when to fire the shutter etc. etc. I believe it would be
good fortune enough to have a single stereo camera, tripod, and a dry
overhang to set up under!
Sure the images may lack some depth, but you can always use a flash to
paint a tree in the foreground etc. and create depth.
I posted this technique last year.......I call it the " indian smoke
signal" method. Fire the camera using the bulb setting when you feel an
impending lightning strike. Keep the shutter open while holding a piece
of flat black cardboard or other material over the lenses. ( do not
touch the camera) Quickly raise the black cardboard away from the lenses
in a vertical direction when you sense the next lightning strike etc.
This method will allow several minutes of open shutter time without
disrupting the camera or overexposing the film.
