The original Kodak Brownie took a circular picture! I think it was 2.5" in
diameter. It's a great idea Alan, it would also make the most of the field
of the taking lenses; no vignetting. ...but of course, it would waste film.

My comments:
I'd prefer looking thru the stereo window any day over looking thru a stereo
porthole! :)
I'm not sure we would want to "make the most of the field of the taking
lenses" since the outer perimeter is the softest part of the lens; on wide
apertures you'd get a lot poorer quality around the entire periphery, I'd
think, rather than especially at the corners as we probably get now. And
since the film is only so high, one cannot make the circular format give us
more view at top and bottom. Instead of gaining view at the top, bottom,
and sides, we would be *losing* view at the corners.
I suspect I've "cornered" you with that last point. :)
